Driver's Education

We provide adult immigrants with the opportunity to enroll in our driver’s education class to prepare them for the written learners permit test through instruction and the use of study materials. By completing the exam, individuals will be able to obtain their driver’s permit, also known as the learner’s permit.

A driver’s/learner’s permit in Florida is a restricted license that allows the state to recognize an individual’s capability to drive. According to the state of Florida, Florida residents under the age of 18 must take and pass the Class E Knowledge Exam, which covers topics related to Florida driving laws and safe driving techniques, to receive their learner’s permit. The next step after obtaining this permit is to become a full-licensed driver, but our main goal is to create the foundation for individuals by preparing them to take the first step toward being able to drive in the state of Florida as a learner.

Through our driver’s education class, individuals will be able to learn the rules of the road as well as vehicle safety and other components related to driving in a safe and prudent manner. After completing this class, our students will be more than ready to take the written learners permit test in order to pass with flying colors and move one site closer to earning their full license.

Classes will be offered at the Haitian Church in Tallahassee through three to four-hour sessions that will be taught over the course of four weeks/four Saturdays. More information about HCCD’s driver’s education will be provided in the near future as it will be offered soon.
